Scoliosis & Yoga Twists: Doโ€™s & Donโ€™ts

In today's Iyengar Yoga tutorial, we take a look at scoliosis and yoga twists.

Because of differences from side to side, twisting poses can be both challenging and confusing for students with scoliosis. In this Iyengar Yoga sequence, I walk you through a couple of yoga twists and highlight how I like to modify the poses based on my curves (right-thoracic, left-lumbar).

When done with care, yoga twists can be a wonderfully satisfying stretch for scoliosis. They can help to alleviate back pain and even encourage better posture. That said, everyone is different and it's really important that you learn to tailor your practice to your personal needs.
